As part of a PhD network on Internet and Society funded by the Hans-Böckler Foundation. Resulted in a thesis on early Internet use, what university networks are actually used for between 1996 and 1999and why the networked computers left their technical niche at the end of the millenium. I conducted a qualitative analysis of private homepages, a quantitative analysis of WWW-traffic and drew on theoretical resources from the sociology of work and critical theory.
